Us is anybody being abused, be it physical, sexual, mental, or any
combination, and anybody that has been abused.
There are some things we need to do.
1. You have to get away safely.
2. You have to stay away safely.
3. You have to get a protective order.
4. You have to realize that you are special, and begin to build your self
esteem back up.
There is, of course other things that will become necessary, these are the immediate "must do's."

There is also;
* Court Services Unit (Protective Order Petitions) (804) 748-1372
* YWCA Women's Advocacy & Shelter Hotline (804) 796-3066

A protective order is just a piece of paper, however, it is taken more
seriously than what it once was. Once in your possession, all you have to
do is call 911, and tell them you have one, and feel threatened. They will
come. They did for me just 3 days ago, and circled the block numerous times to be sure he hadn't returned. A protective order is an absolute necessity.
I feel much safer, after seeing Chesterfield County's response to my calls.
I will still check doors, turn lights on as I enter a room, and all the other things I have become accustomed to, but, feel much safer knowing help is just a phone call away!
