Get Ready To Leave:
If you are in immediate danger then of course an immediate removal of either you or him is neccessary. Call 911-they will hopefully mediate long enough to either put him out, giving you time to get out, or at least keep you safe while you get the kids and get in the car. This is of course assuming you have a car, and access to the keys. If not, call a friend, or family while the police are still there.
The absolute best possible escape is a planned one.
A planned escape is not always possible, and this is where you need to know that you do have the strength inside you to get away.
If you have someone you trust, start giving them any extra money you manage to get your hands on. Give them any pictures, hospital records, copies of arrests warrants, - anything that will provide you with proof of the abuse, as this is still sometimes difficult to prove without evidence.
If possible, slowly take pieces of clothing to a safe place. Things he won't notice are gone. If you don't have a family member, or friend you can trust, call one of the hotlines and ask for help.
Shelters will protect your location, I have been at one, and there you can find support, and resources on how to make this leave a permanent thing.
Try to keep a written record of things that happened, this too should be given to your trusted person. This will not only provide you with a form of evidence, but it will, in later days serve as a source of strength. If you start doubting yourself, you can look back and realize that you needed to leave, and that you need to stay gone.
